Sony: PS4 won't block used games

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has stated that the PlayStation 4 won't block used games, though his assertion seemed unsure.

When asked by a reporter on whether the console would block used games, Yoshida replied, "Do you want us to do that?"

When told no, he stated that, "That's the general expectation by consumers. They purchase physical form, they want to use it everywhere, right? So that's my expectation."

However, when pressed, he asked his PR advisor in Japanese, "So what was our official answer to our internal question?" he then stated, "So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?"

Make of that what you will.

One generation too soon for that, the next one everything is going to be digital anyways.

Who would sell the console then? GameStop and other retailers don't make a dime from selling the hardware.

Newegg and the like wouldn't have an issue with that.

Does anyone see himself still buying games on discs in 10 years?
I for sure don't, I haven't bought one in a few years already.

It won't be a brilliant future if the publishers can kill the second hand market completely but when all the games are mere downloads and even those that are sold on a disc have to be linked to an account then sadly that's what's in store for us.
