Electronic Arts and BioWare have announced the final single player downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, which will round out Shepard's life, allowing players to explore more of the Citadel and reconnect with the characters from the entire trilogy.

According to exec producer Casey Hudson, “The team has poured heart and soul into Mass Effect 3: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3: Citadel. As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet. We have always been humbled and driven by the passion of our fans for the Mass Effect trilogy. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters -- we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We’re excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe."

To celebrate, the Reckoning multiplayer DLC pack will be free to download, which adds new characters, weapons and upgrades.

Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be released on the 5th March for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15 USD.)

I didn't like the brief encounters with Jack, Miranda, etc. I want more from them.

It seems there's actually a bigger reason why this is free then :).

edit:
Ups, I though the whole thing was free at first, I don't know how I missed the price at the bottom.

Incidentally, Mass Effect 3 was released on March 6 2012. One year since.

Luke, sorry to disappoint, but Square decided on the same DLC policy that they have on Sleeping Dogs. And at least one will be timed exclusive for XBOX.

Compared to that, EA seems moderate in the release of DLC's for ME3.

I wouldn't jump the gun with the GOTY stuff. Wait for the respective games to be released. Remember how enthusiastic people were abiut Hitman. Don't remember that becoming GOTY. And it was dwarfed in sales by a newcomer (Sleeping Dogs).

With DA: Inquisition set for release rather sooner than later, i think that Bioware's fate is about to be sealed. Three titles under EA and all underperformed. DA3 is the final chance for Bioware to go on a couple of years more. And i Don't think that the upcoming ME will be made by Bioware or even be anywhere near an RPG. My money are on a FPS.

Well, RIP Mass Effect! EA happened to you!:(

A good chunk of the ME3 DLC is free. The multiplayer DLC anyway.

This was Robin Sachs' last work - they're going to be honoring him in-game.

A bunch of multiplayer dlc and SP sounds good to me for this great game.
I wouldn't be surprised if they ever release the Mass Effect trilogy GOTY edition for the future consoles like the PS4 when their next chapter of the Mass Effect Universe takes effect in a couple of years.

GOTY, like any annual award, is far more likely to be awarded to something that comes out near the end of the year. The new game is still cresting its hype and people are still excited to be playing it, compared to an older game they may have enjoyed more but finished playing months ago.

It's also fairly meaningless. Lots of media outlets have their own pick for goty. All you need is one to pick your game and *BLAM*, GOTY edition. There does tend to be a lot of overlap, but I've certainly seen more than one goty edition game from the same year.

I do kinda wonder how many people actually buy a $15 DLC a year after the game came out though. I'd practically never buy a $15 DLC at all, and honestly, if it's months after I finshied the game, I probably wouldn't even download a free DLC. Maybe if it was further adventures stuck onto the end of the game, but not for side-quests.

Tomb Raider is looking nice. I hope it doesn't disappoint. One day, when it's like $15 on a Steam sale, I'd be interested in buying it.
