Rumor: Microsoft revealing next-gen console in April
Posted: 23.02.2013 04:32 by JonahFalcon Comments: 12
It seems that unnamed sources consisting of developers and industry professionals have leaked that Microsoft will be running their own "See the Future"-style one-time event in April to show off the Xbox 720.

This follows the uncovering of a recently registered xboxevent.com domain name by NeoGAF. The domain was registered by Eventcore, which was formerly called US Techs.

Back when Eventcore was US Techs, it also did Microsoft's E3 keynote last year.

Major Nelson tweeted during the "See the Future" event, "Announce a console without actually showing a console? That's one approach." This would indicate that Microsoft could be showing actual hardware at their own event.

A lot of console players are going to go nuts in April.

They have always been in nut-mode ;)
But the latest offers on the consoles can scare away more than they can win if they are not careful. I think that this year we will see a tougher competition for the three major consoles. PS4, XBOX 720 and Wii u will have to compete with a strong PC market that is starting to expand to Mac and Linux as well. NVidia branching out with Android and PC compatibility and the upcoming STEAM box is merging things from the PC with the living room experience.

It will go between PS4 and Xbox 720 for the consoles, and for portables with touchscreen like the I-pad or I-phone and Android, the Wii U has no chance and as for the PC if you have a HD-TV as most of us have you have already the living room experience,no extra Steam box is required .

I'll be interested to see the information and any examples of the architecture in use. Only for interest's sake, being a long time 'techhead'.

Not all TV's are Smart TV's HenoKutos - and I would argue that most have it so far. Many have some form of smartness at home and then it it begs to which quality you want to have from it.
Most Smart TV's don't offer that great experience compared to a fully customized computer running XMBC or similar program for your multimedia needs. But I get what you mean in general. :)

Yeahhhhh, but! I don't like playing on my TV, as my lounge is not where I play videogames (sounds like a bad term for PC titles).
It's all about Feng Shui:)

My main interest in the next gen consoles is seeing if I can nab a brand new current gen console way cheap.

I wish those piece of junk would come out as soon as possible, I want normal PC games, not those disastrous ports of old ones.
