Crystal in "good partnership" with GK Films on new Tomb Raider film

Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has their latest works releasing this week, where a much younger Lara Croft takes the lead. The newly planned film is part of a "cohesive version" of the series.

What that means is there'll be no continuation of the old Tomb Raider films. GK Films is working off the "new take that we’ve given them," said Crystal Dynamics' Darrell Gallagher.

The film will be based off the reboot, although it's unclear if that means we'll be seeing Lara's island exploits up on the silver screen, or if it'll simply acknowledge those events.

"They are working from this new take that we’ve given them,” Gallagher said of GK Films, reports Variety. “It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens.”

“It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise,” he continued. “We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old ‘Tomb Raider’ films.”

Getting Lara Croft right is key, adds creative director Noah Hughes. “Looking at Lara as a character, she was still going to be an intellectual heroine, a brilliant archaeologist, but more athletic, more competent in traversal and puzzle-solving and combat,” he said. "She really embodies adventure,” Hughes continued.

“She’s an expression of all the things that are exciting and fun about going on epic adventures. There’s an X factor that no one can explain but is universal in design. She’s a great character to work with.”

The latest Lara Croft was voiced and motion captured off of actress Camilla Luddington, but will she land the lucrative role as Lady Croft up on the big screen? Tomb Raider releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this week.

Not a bad idea. I watched Angelina's feeble attempts a few weeks back and I have to say that time has not been kind to them. Pimped and preened Jolie (Voight)is dreadful, the movies are so pretentious and false and the stories shallow, I can't believe I thought them half-decent when they came out.

Obviously the actor (we don't say actress anymore, as it's not pc - bleeding heart bloody liberals and lefty's) has to look goo, but more importantly she has to bloody well act.
My vote goes to British lass Gemma Arterton, seen in "Prince of Persia" and "Clash Of The Titans". She actually is quite a good actor, if you take the time to watch her in other flicks such as "The Disappearance of Alice Creed".
