Jagex has announced that RuneScape 3 will be coming this Summer 2013. The free-to-play MMO is more of a major update to the venerable title, as player's characters will transfer over entirely.

The browser-based game will enjoy a major leap in technology, as it'll utilize an HTML5 engine, allowing for better graphics, longer draw distances, new audio, new design features and a world changing content update as the game moves into the Sixth Age.

The company released a developer video showing off the new changes and interviews with the devs.

Better late than never. This absolute epitome of a gold mining MMO once held my son's interest for hours on end, mining and chopping wood for hours on end just buy silly hats and capes. Still, at it's heart it has a fine game mechanic, and PVP is, unlike many other MMO's, not intrusive nor something you need avoid.
