Ubisoft confirmed this morning that it's developing Blood Dragon, a stand-alone digital expansion for Far Cry 3, which will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on 1st May, 2013.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon has about 8 hours of content and lets players get the girl, kill the bad guys and save the world in a VHS-era vision of the future. As Sergeant Rex Colt, you are part man, part machine, all American. You are a state-of-the art Mark IV cyber-commando on a mission of vengeance.

Sergeant Rex Colt has been tasked with a mission to take down his old commanding officer and his battalion of ruthless killer cyborgs and he'll stop at nothing to get the job done. Hollywood action icon Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss) is on board to do voice work for Blood Dragon.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon releases for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as a stand-alone digital release on 1st May, 2013. All PC pre-orders will receive a free copy of the soundtrack by Power Glove.

You can watch the first trailer for Blood Dragon below, which I personally feel should win the Trailer of 2013 award. I'm excited about this, how about you?

It's a great trailer
...but the MGS V trailer still remains the forerunner for now :)

"Ubisoft confirms Blood Dragon stand-alone digital expansion for Far Cry 3" This thing is already leaked on torrent sites.

It was heavily leaked unfortunately, but Ubisoft embargoed a lot of coverage until 9am this morning. It does look awesome though.

Bit like a Roger Moore "Bond" film, with all the elements required wrapped up in a neat bundle. Yes it was leaked on torrents days ago, yet most of those that do download it I believe will end up purchasing it if only for the fact that patches are few and infrequent for torrents (you get what you pay for, or not pay for, after all). won't impact on sales though, despite what Ubisoft may claim in the future.

If priced at a good point I'd consider picking this up even before I can afford the full title. Treat it like a teaser.

I agree. People will appreciate this game, because we really don't see many projects such as this.
