Bleszinski skips PC to make Gears of War 2 "stronger" for gamers

While still professing his love the PC, Bleszinski has come out defending their decision to release the upcoming sequel exclusively to the Xbox 360.

He says it allows them to "laser-focus" the franchise letting them deliver "an Xbox 360 game that kicks ass, plain and simple." It's a business decision, one they needed to take.

Speaking with Shacknews he talked about why they reached the decision to leave the PC behind and push forward with a console only Gears of War 2.

"We just believe that collectively we can laser-focus this franchise, keep it on console, and it will be stronger as a result," said the Gears of War creator. "I mean itís just plain and simple. Itís not that I donít like the PC, but we want to make an Xbox 360 game that kicks ass, plain and simple."

"Weíre a business and weíre going where the market is," he continued. "Thereís a hundred guys at work, a number of which have wives and kids, and thereís a certain amount of responsibility to make sure that they can afford their Pedialyte and their Enfamil." Yes we all need our drugs; fair point Bleszinski.

"And you know, weíre a business, and it makes sense for Gears to keep it on the 360 and have Microsoft market the hell out of it and make the best game that we can."

"Iíll always love the PC. Thatís where our roots are, but, you know, companies evolve and their strategies sometimes shift, and thatís an unfortunate reality of business."

Oh the PC Gaming Alliance is going to feel this one, especially after Molyneux openly expressed his view that the PC market is "in tatters" recently.

Given the oddball control scheme used for the original Gears of War, this gamer isn't particularly disappointed that Gears of War 2 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.
After playing the first game, I had no plans to get the sequel.

As to claims about this title not being released on PC, I'll wait and see how that pans about over the next year... watching to see if an announcement is made by late 2009 stating a pending PC release.

Well I tried to play it on the Xbox 360, heck one of the reasons for the 360 was partly Gears of War's strong marketing. So I got it, came a bit into it, tried multiplayer and after realising that I will never like the "toadlike" controller this game wasn't for me. Suddenly it appeared on PC and I tried it, got like 15 minutes into it before I was bored. Rainbow Six had already the same controlling thingie except they also had a command and ordering structure. Gears 2? Yeah well, I won't lose any sleep and i actually welcome the exclusive titles over boring and bad clones/ports.
A game is not only fun for the graphics/physics/story but also a lot on HOW you play the game. More specific game releases please. If you won't develope for the PC perhaps someone that loves the PC and wants to take over the torch will arise and give us something PC gamers would like to have? ;)

Well, still they could make the GoW2 on the Games for Windows platform. The first one worked perfectly on a X360 gamepad...

Gamepad it is... Big M is making a mistake leaving us behind.

He is lying out his teeth again. Gears 2 will come to PC in some form about 6-12 months after its release on the X360. They want to give the illusion that it is not coming to PC.
