The Origin digital platform as well as Answer HQ and other EA servers were hit by "unexpected downtime", announces the publisher. This affected logins to the services which in the case of Origin, meant games were unplayable.
Online accounts, current customer support cases, community forums etc. all suffered downtime with EA "monitoring this outage" and working fast to solve it.
Not long ago EA alluded to an extensive attack being launched against Battlefield 3's servers which knocked the service offline. It's unclear whether this is similar.
"The EA and Origin login function is currently down, as well as Answer HQ. This means that you will likely be unable to login to access your account online, cases, forum posts, or contact a Game Advisor. Some titles are also experiencing a temporary outage and may not load or be accessible online at this time," announced EA.
"Our team is monitoring this outage and are working to restore normal access as soon as possible." They advise users to keep an eye on EA's to stay up-to-date on the matter.
