Consoles drive game sales, SirRoderick. Period.

Please don't talk about indie games and MMOs.

On major multiplatform releases, consoles lead PC sales by a factor of 20:1 or greater.

Example:

Call of Duty: Black Ops II on 360: 12.20M sales
Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PS3: 10.19M sales
Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PC: 0.91M sales

Jonah if you`re gonna use stats add all games, multiplatform or not,PC has entire GENRES that are exclusive to it,now let`s see how those numbers are.

How many copies did Total War Shogun II sell on PS3? :)

Silly example perhaps, but still you may want to actually look for a game that PC gamers LIKE, not CoD. Such as for instance Minecraft, Metro Last Light etc. Not to mention that those figures almost exclusively mention retail only, which is heavily skewed towards consoles. At any one time there are 4-5 million unique PC gamers online on Steam alone, if you're saying that is not a market you can cater to for a living you'd be a terrible businessman

I'm not saying consoles don't matter, I'm just saying they don't matter to me. Just like PC doesn't appear to matter to you. Do carry on not caring and I'll do the same!

I leave you with a quote :)

"Someone said this is like two superpowers going against each other. As A PC gamer it's like 2 North Koreas..."

Those numbers are probably based on Retail, not digital, it's safe to say that the PC industry is digital now. You have to factor in Steam, GamersGate and all those digital stores. VGChartZ isn't accurate either.

Ok, live television and picture-in-picture as well as Skype is a fucking masterstroke.

Wow, Ghosts looks really really good. Peter Molyneux promises that you will LOVE your dog.

300K servers is a humongous leap compared to the current 15K. The operating costs must be mindblowing. As for CoD Ghosts - Meh...

Sony: "Look at all the developers we have!" Microsoft: "Look at all the TV interaction methods we have!"

We've seen better graphics on the PC for a few years now to be honest, when it comes to Ghost. Not really that pumped for it. Resident Evil 2 HD remake with Next-gen graphics, I'll be pumped.

I think the mistake Microsoft made was not calling out to those indie developers, even knowing Minecraft did well for them. That's something Sony did with their announcement.

Looks alright, but DRM on media could make or break it.

"XBox! Hobbit!"
"Sorry, I know you own it on BluRay, but you have to buy it again to store it on the XBox HDD, k?"
"XBox! Get bent and die!"

So far, I don't really see why I would get an Xbox instead of a true media computer?
The Xbox has limitations en masse - so does the SONY and Nintendo - pfeehhh.
The price is getting close to what you would pay for a computer to fix this - and still - you would have a computer that could do all the things you tell it to do - not only show US box offices that aren't adapted for Europe yet.

The next Xbox is a mediacenter that can play games. Simple as that. What's good with it is that it pushes the graphics that will benefit gaming on PC (my preferred gaming methid bared dice and a collection of good friends...) but it is still the same limited ways of controlling, interaction and viewing.
Not to mention that PIP, Social-interactions-in-picture seems to adress the ones with the attention span of a gnat - not those that wish to game games that actually demands concentration... Oh sorry - we are all going casual and social these days...

Regarding new COD - I went through my list of FPS games on STEAM yesterday trying to find a shooter that i wanted to play. I found none. I have TF2 for my multiplayer needs. Blops, COD2, 3 etc feels like yyou will sit out every second map due to missing map packs etc so nah.
battlefield2, 3? Being sniped through tanks and mountains by Russian wall hackers? Close combat being a gamble due to porrt networkl code - same as COD actaully - no thank you.
I longed for Unreal Tournament, Quake 2, Quake Arena, the first time you played Deus EX - well the time you actaully got hyped - because you knew that in the games that were released SOMETHING new could come. Now, we have more and more "interactive" movie games - and sorry - I tried those early on, they still fail to impress. Now it is shinier graphics and more "make lists, compair online, Facebook this, Twitter that, Google+ that...

To end with the old cringy whining - In my days we hanged around the game chat waiting to spawn!!!!

Oh, and yeah, the Xbox looks shiny, and the only reason i would get one is because it stays inbusiness long enough for my son to really really want one - or they really do invent something new and cool along the way.

I don't own a console now. I won't be getting a next gen console. I really don't care what they're doing with consoles even though (extremely) sadly so many games these days are developed for consoles first and that dramatically impacts/limits how good they can be on PC.

They keep saying PC game sales are down but for whatever reason they then say that doesn't include digital sales, which I figure are the majority of PC game sales these days, so unless companies start regularly revealing how much business they're doing digitally, who the heck knows? And digital has to be more profitable for them even with Valve/whoever taking a vampiric cut.
