Denis Dyack began his Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to get Shadow of the Eternals, the spiritual successor to the Gamecube classic Eternal Darkness, a few weeks ago.
With 18 days left, the game has only raised just over $117K - with a $1.35M goal. With the money raised from Dyack's site, the game has only raised $274K.
Unfortunately, unlike other projects, should the Kickstarter campaign fail, there is no other recourse for the studio. According to developer Precursor's Shawn Jackson, "If the project does not reach its goal on Kickstarter, we will refund all pledges made through PayPal on our own site" and the project will be cancelled because the developer does not "have any other source of funding."
He added, "We will entertain all options to make this game a reality because we believe in this project. However, we can't be sure a publisher will share our vision for interacting with the community during development, or this would work in the traditional model."
