Report: Forza Motorsport 5 will run natively at 1080p at 60fps

Developer Turn 10 has confirmed that Forza Motorsport 5 will run natively at 1080p at 60 frames-per-second. However, Microsoft won't enforce that standard on all Xbox One games.

According to Turn 10's content director John Wendel, "I believe we're uniquely positioned to deliver on that challenge. We're a huge epic game that's going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it's an incredible opportunity on one hand, but you have to be incredibly flexible and agile and self-aware on the other hand."

However, Microsoft Studios vice president Phil Spencer stated that the company has reassured its Xbox One developers that 1080p/60fps is not enforced in all games.

"It's important we give creators the best tools to create the best experience possible," Spencer related, "and I don't think that platform holders can dictate what the internal frame buffer size should be. "Forza 5 runs at 60 frames per second, but other people will make different trade-offs."

He added, "resolution is not the thing that maximizes beauty."

Resolution is one of the most important things though, especially if you have people playing on bigger and bigger screens. As for FPS, it's a little subjective and genre-dependent I think. Not a lot of people are going to complain that a turn based strategy game runs at 30, but a LOT of people will be annoyed if a spectacle fighter runs under 60

No. FPS and texture are far more import. FPS especially since that determines how crucial control is. Every Counter-Strike player has the lowest graphic options on because they want the high high framerate.

Exactly how do you manage textures in blurry resolutions? -_-

Lighting, bump mapping, etc. They don't need 1080p.

Yeah...let's call this a difference of opinion

Ask any developer which would they rather have: 1080p and 30fps or 720p and 60fps, and they'll pick 720/60, every day of the week.

Hmmmhhhh

Like I already said, depends on the genre.

Not to mention you can have both.
