Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two isn't all that concerned by Grand Theft Auto V being only for the current generation of consoles, despite what some analysts believe. Sales will be extremely robust says the CEO.
It's the "most highly anticipated" of their biggest franchise, with an "excess of 120 million" making up the current gen install base, so they're expecting nothing short of "enormous consumer demand".
The mid-September release for GTAV is close to the launches of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 but only Xbox 360 and PS3 releases are planned for Rockstar's latest.
“Grand Theft Auto V is the most highly anticipated release of our biggest franchise. It features the largest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created," Strauss Zelnick told .
“The installed base of current generation consoles is estimated to be in excess of 120 million, and most of those consumers have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto V for years. Therefore, we expect there to be enormous consumer demand for Grand Theft Auto V regardless of when the next-generation consoles are released.”
Some retailers have mentioned a PC listing for Grand Theft Auto V, which has traditionally arrived months after an instalment's console release. Hopefully PC gamers won't need to wait too long before booking their tickets for Los Santos once again. Take-Two will not be showcasing any titles at E3, preferring their own events.
