Sega has announced that that developer Relic's Company of Heroes 2 is now available both in retail and digital distribution. The game uses the Essence 3.0 Engine, with "ColdTech" weather engine (as your soldiers freeze to death), a TrueSight line-of-sight system, and destructible environment.

Relic is also promising "extensive ongoing post-launch support effort offering: balance updates, bug and performance fixes and free multiplayer maps, in addition to premium content, post launch."

Read many reviews now, and so far they range from unbelievably good (Kotaku, Forbes, Destructoid) to unbelievably bad (Quarter to Three). What I can gllen from spreading them out is that this is built for MP from the ground up, with the SP experience more of an addition than the mainstay it was in the first. Forbes went so far as to ask "Who plays these games for SP anyway?", which I roundly threw back at them as "MANY OF US - the silent half!
o, what to expect. if you've splurged the obscene price Steam is demanding for Aussies ($79 USD) well you/re mad for one thing. For another, as the graphics aren't much improved from the first, and the cut-scene are plain horrible so I've heard, then you might be disappointed. A major expansion pack might be a better way of looking at it, unless of course you include all of the new online extras.
I'm only after the SP, so I'll wait for this to drop markedly before shelling out any dollars.

The only review that counts is Strategy Informer's.

Natürlich. Looking forward to it.

So this is a MP title? With the prices so far - I will wait then.

It does have a SP Campaign, though it is, depending on what and who you read, either "dynamic", "challenging" or "a tutorial for the MP". There are also challenges, that can be completed in SP or Co-op. It all sounds very similar to "CoD" in fact.

Yeah, well similar to COD gets me a bit hmmm.
Also, seeing as my future has some kickstarting titles coming up - I feel that beating the mass-hype megagames isn't really that important anymore.
I'm still getting shivers seeing gameplay from Shadowrun Returns, Wasteland 2, reading about Numeria and project Eternity...
