Full Control updates on Space Hulk and Jagged Alliance Flashback

Copenhagen-based Full Control have informed the masses of what's been going on in their latest newsletter. With regards to Space Hulk, it will be on Steam for pre-purchase "in just a few weeks" for Warhammer 40k fans.

They took the game to Rezzed and were "somewhat overwhelmed" by the queues to play it. While Space Hulk is the "main focus" for most at Full Control, Jagged Alliance Flashback rolls forward.

The studio has been "writing up story elements" for JAF, now that its Kickstarter period of craziness has ended. They hope to launch the website and forums soon.

"Space Hulk is shaping up fantastic, and it's fantastic to also see the studio play the game in their spare time simply because it’s great fun and a really cool game!" posted Full Control.

"So we are happy to announce that we will open up pre-order for the game on Steam in just a few weeks from now! More details will be sent out in a “Space Hulk Pre-order Special” newsletter soon."

"We were somewhat overwhelmed by the constant 3-4-5 deep waiting lines, and in hindsight we should have had more computers to demo the game on," they said. "But it also gave us a chance to chat with a lot of you and get feedback."

The developer is having to adjust to things slowing down on the Jagged Alliance Flashback front now that the Kickstarter campaign has ended successfully. "After the crazy months of Kickstarter preparations and running the campaign itself, it felt really weird and empty to go into a slower pace without daily communication with the community."

It's time to start getting their plans into shape: "We have been writing up story elements and are going into level design now, as well as ramping up the preproduction team more and more. Also the website and forums are being given love, and hopefully we can soon launch it all."

"For the story part, we have listened to a lot of the feedback and have had several sessions of crazy brainstorming around a new name for the island (it’s too close to a real island), the setting and main storyline us dumb Danes calling Russians “Soviets” stepping on their toes in the process and so on."

Full Control will be attending Games Day US, Games Day Germany and Games Day UK in the next two year period, so fans can still get their grubby mitts on Space Hulk and some merch.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting pretty tired of this 'kickstarter' and 'pre release' and 'buy the beta' craze that's hit the PC game world.

Can someone please finish something?

I was at the Space Hulk website yesterday looking for updates and saw nothing there.

Somewhat agree. I guess SRR will be the first but it seems like a lot of these games are in perpetual development. Different dev cycle, I suppose - we're aware of the games from early, early prototype stages when they go for funding so it seems longer than games that are quietly in dev then revealed with less time til release than some of these.

Same here Hero - I want to see the big games coming from Kickstarter - then we will know what Kickstarter will become and how much it can be. But that is for the next year I fear.

Pre-play versions like Beta and stuff like that is double wrong and overuse of fanboism: pay to do the company a service while usually the company needs your input to make the game good enough? Sounds not like a good match...

Yes, I'm afraid "StarDrive" has out me off that, and now I see "StarVoid" and another space 'sim' is doing the same. No thanks.
