Natural Selection 2 adding female marines

Unknown Worlds has announced that their online multiplayer shooter Natural Selection 2 won't be a sausage fest anymore as a female marine skin is being added in late August.

The developer is intent on making her a badass marine, and not a sexualized being.

"The game industry has a history of depicting female characters inappropriately. Often, they are stylised to such a degree that they become sexual objects: While their male comrades are clothed, armed and armoured to fight, the female character is notable for the lack of any clothing at all. When female characters are granted equal protection, that protection often ignores basic laws of physics in favour of offering titillating form," stated the dev blog.

"Her armour puts function before form," noted Unknown Worlds, "while adopting the science fiction, melee combat aligned design ques that have made the male marine so uniquely recognisable."

The female update will be free - keep an eye out for her.

Agree. They ought to make her hips wider to show she isn't a boy. Create a nice muscular butt shape so marines securing her back can have a pleasant view. Admiring body form is fun after all.

OR! We could grow up and let women not look like a fantasy for once, but like a soldier.

Well, notice the armor are just plates, so her natural body is showing from underneath. I just wonder why breast plates must be shaped more like breasts, as here as well.

I'm more worried about that crotch protector :).

Well, you can take a look at the female anatomy Jonah - breast on women do tend to be a bit more round and soft than men, they require a better support and protection since being more sensitive than the breasts of men.
The body shaped armor is of course to minimize bulkiness and keeping an evenly formed armor ;) [joke]

Also, if you can't see a difference why add another model? Why not just make a more feminine face like in War of the Roses?
