SimCity confirmed for Mac August 29th

EA has announced that the long in the making Mac version of SimCity will be releasing August 29th. It was originally due June 11th but was pushed back to 'ensure a great experience' for Mac gamers.

A full native version of the game has been built, as Maxis avoided a more direct PC port. The cross-platform SimCity means free Mac versions for PC owners, and vice versa.

The most recent update for the game tweaked how the game handles residential, commercial and industrial zones to make them more dependent on each other.

Currently Maxis is testing Update 7 which will include traffic revisions and a bridge, tunnel and overpass tool for Mayors to force their construction, helping to create some rather unique city infrastructure. SimCity has sold over 2 million units since its troubled launch back in March. The Mac version is a digital only release.

This doesn't sound like the usual EA to me, though considering that Origin is trying to be a Steam copy this is actually the normal thing to do. Still nice though.

"A full native version..." minus all of the PC hiccups perhaps. Be interesting to see, but I would have preferred a Ubuntu release.
