Techland's Dying Light is the studio's latest first-person survival game set in a post-zombie apocalypse. Warner Brothers has released a new trailer that shows off 12 minutes of 'pre-Alpha' gameplay footage. This was the demo shown off to press at E3 2013.

Freerunning movement lets us traverse Dying Light's world as we fight to scavenge resources during daylight to prepare for the oncoming dangers of the night. Choices have consequences.

From what's in the video they've certainly leapt forward from Dead Island, which was a lot more focused on the RPG elements with combat relying on stats.

Upgrading weapons is a feature that has carried over at least, as an electrified hunting knife is brandished menacingly. There are also special enemy types like hulking monstrosities who like hurling heavy objects and charging. During the night the gameplay shifts as 'the hunter becomes the hunted' and the infected 'become something more sinister'.

Dying Light releases on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4 in 2014.

The world has had enough of shooters, zombie games, hack and slash games et ecetera et cetera. What's your point? Learn basic grammar.
On a side note, Dying Light looks great. However, the graphics style, combat, movement (except for parkour)... Dying Light has an uncanny resemblance to Dead Island. The same engine perhaps? Hopefully not.

I like Dead Island so i have no problems there with the engine.
It does what it is supposed to in my opinion.
Of course i would like a brand new blazing engine with stunning graphics but that can not make a game good, just look at Crysis 3 or BF3, looks good but game-play sucks.

Wow, thought it was okay for most of it but that "night time" twist looks like it'll make the game really interesting. Colour me excited.

Strange, BF3's strongest selling point for me is the gameplay :P
Plus, this https://www.humblebundle.com/ :D
The engine used for Dead Island is riddled with bugs, unfortunately. The microlag is terrible when using the keyboard. I can't play it without the gamepad -.- The game itself is great, though.

I must say it rather the other way around for me, BF3 is great to look at, but the game is so boring.
Dead Island works like a charm on my system, the bugs everyone talks about seems to be very absent on my rig. Strange but i don't care really, most games works perfectly on my setup so i'm pleased.
