Report: First person shooter Space Hulk: Deathwing coming
Posted: 25.08.2013 15:38 by Comments: 13
A GamesCom 2013 pamphlet has revealed an unannounced first person shooter Space Hulk: Deathwing, to be published by Focus Home Interactive and developed by Cyanide, whose foray into Games Workshop's license has been the turn-based Blood Bowl games.

The game seems to have more in common with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, however, as the pamphlet states the players will be taking on "the role of a Space Marine from one of the most secret and most feared Space Marine companies, the Deathwings from the Dark Angels." It goes on to say, "As a Librarian, you will also master the destructive powers of the Psykers", as players can earn experience to spend on four skill trees, unlocking new powers, relics and weapons.

Space Hulk: Deathwing will use Unreal Engine 4, and will be released sometime in 2014 for possibly PC and console; no platforms have been announced yet.

Did you play Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine?

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine = half decent game, not that special in my opinion.

Yes, but it was exactly what Warhammer 40,000 looks like. Everyone's chief complaint was that it was about the Smurf Brigade, as usual.

And I've just seen that it uses UE4!

Well, I prefer Blood Ravens or the Black Templars. The Smurfs are cool in their own right, though ^^

Nothing, except they're always the ones focused on. It's like Wolverine. We get it - Ultramarines, special. Let another group get highlighted.

Ultramarines aren't that special in gaming, the BloodRavens have been the focus on the most recent games (DoW). A new chapter and Terminators sounds cool enough since SpaceHulk bombed.

SpaceMarine was fun to play, and the MP was cool, the close combat idea and jetpacks made the fighting intense - but far too few maps and play styles IMO. The wave-mode was cool though and one of the better versions of this IMHO.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine was an excellent game. Lots of enjoyable moments I had with it.

I hope it's better than "Space Marine". That got a trifle boring half way through, and having goodies given then taken was not a lot of fun. Didn't play the MP, which was the core of the game, so can't comment on that.
