Tanks, APCs and mortar fire - these are daily hazards for the average Battlefield soldier, but helicopters and fighter jets are major threats too. Actually their greatest danger is friendly firing/crashing.

DICE want to help alleviate 'fear' of piloting helicopters in Battlefield 4 by providing a "test range" to help gamers earn their wings, without the stigma of losing your team valuable war assets.

Given the huge amount of destruction now in Battlefield, courtesy of 'Levolution', it's probably best a bunch of newbies aren't zipping around in airborne wrecking balls.

"We’ve definitely heard that people are afraid of getting in there and that’s not our intent,” said DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson, referring to the helicopter flight seat, "so what we’ve done is, we’ve added a test range, which allows you to try out all the hardware ahead of time.”

We've all been there - jumping into a chopping just taking off but get a serious case of paranoia as it seems to be tipping just a little too much in the nose or flying just a little too close to the ground/construction crane.

"If you want to learn to fly a helicopter you can get in there and you can find the settings that work best for you. And then start doing some stunt flights just to feel safe before you go out and get the responsibility of a bunch of other people sitting in your helicopter. So I truly hope that this will help people feel more safe about trying out the whole battlefield.”

A multiplayer beta begins for Battlefield 4 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in early October. Seven online modes will be available at launch across ten maps. It releases October 29th in the US, November 1st in EU.
