Playing as a team equals success. Despite the obvious commie-pinko connotations, Riot Games has put together a video to prove that actual teamwork equals a ton more wins in League of Legends.
Helping each other out and not just whining produces more wins, and they have stats to prove it. Riot acknowledge some "fail to understand" that berating your team is bad.
Instead of kicking your fellow team members down and throwing disparagements about their 'questionable parentage', it's positivity that will make you strong again.
"What some players fail to understand is epic comebacks don't come from berating your teammates," Riot said. "Rage doesn't win games." Apparently suffering a 'rager' on your team decreases the chance of winning down to about 46%, instead of the average 'zero-rager' percentile of 56%.
"And it keeps getting worse from there," Riot said. "So it makes more sense to focus on winning. Keep tempers from flaring in chat." Positive players who actually embrace teamwork are 10% more likely to be winning matches than the average LoL user. That also means more virtual gold lines their pockets.
Riot Games use a Tribunal System where players consistently flagged for abusive behaviour have a case built against them which ultimately gets put before a jury of sorts who decide: punish or pardon.
MMOs like World of Warcraft were once the utopian haven for 'ragers' but with the rise of free-to-play MOBAs they've moved to bloodier, more abusive pastures.
