Dead Rising 3 "frame-locked at 30" on Xbox One

Capcom is continuing to optimise Dead Rising 3 ready for launch day for Xbox One, and producer Mike Jones has confirmed it is now "frame-locked at 30." The team amidst "beta and final" preparations.

The Gamescom 2013 demo for Dead Rising 3 suffered from technical issues when the screen became overloaded with zombies, but that version was 'weeks old'.

Capcom Vancouver is a stone's throw from Microsoft's big offices and the Dead Rising 3 team has been taking advantage of the close geography.

"If you saw it at Gamescom, we got a new drop from Microsoft literally that week, so you're seeing optimizations happening right now," Jones told Polygon. "We're in the midst of beta and final optimizations and polish absolutely, we've got the game frame-locked at 30."

Apparently the frame rate drops that plagued the Gamescom version weren't skulking around in the more recent Tokyo Game Show demo. Dead Rising has always prided itself for the number of shuffling undead it could squeeze onto the screen for maximum mayhem and challenge.

Dead Rising 3 releases on Xbox One November 22nd.

HA! Suck it dirty console peasants, even with your newest consoles you are no match for the superior race :)

In all honesty though, really? 30 fps limit day one? What is even the point of buying new consoles if they`re barely any better than the old ones?

Don't care. Rather have resolution than frame rate - this isn't Counter-Strike. Part of the reason is that it's an OPEN WORLD GAME with THOUSANDS OF ZOMBIES on the screen. Even my high end PC would struggle with that.

Strange... So PC still rules! xD

P.S. Haha 30 FPS in 2013/2014 ;-P

P.S.2 Also I must say that I really hate when my framerate is going down from 60-70fps to 30-40 fps, so this is important to me.

I'm playing Fez on PC. Wanna complain about the graphics?

GTA5 just hit $1B in sales without a PC release, the fastest ever by any entertainment medium ever. heh

The best selling PC game ever was The Sims 2. Do people care about framerate in The Sims 2? Resolution?

Jonah you fail as much as Peter Molyneaux, you`re comparing an indie title to a big budget one,fez is 10-15$ while DR 3 is 80$,so what if GTA 5 got those numbers without pc? Let us see what they get WITH pc and then we`ll talk and i`m pretty sure people do care quite a lot about the graphics in a game like Sims since having the characters look like real people is rather important in a game like that.

LOL ... are you kidding me? The new consoles are maxed out at launch and can't do better than a pitiful 30fps! LOL what a waste of time and engineering!

Johah WTH are you talking about Fez graphics? What has that got to do with ANYTHING? Yes I played the Sims 2 and yes I cared very much about fps and resolution. I'm a gamer. Being a gamer is the only reason I know anything about computers. Being a gamer means I want the best I can possibly get for my money. I over clock, I download drivers, I optimize, I patch and I crack. I research technology to game. Hours of research to game. Console kiddies will never get it. My first sli setup was with a 3dfx Monster Fusion 16mb card that had a vga cable connecting it to my other diamond pci graphics card. OPENGL Quake man, full version cracked from a $5 shareware cd. Do we even care about framerate and resolution.

30 FPS is perfectly fine for most games, unless it's a twitch game it should not matter too much.

Consoles obviously CAN do better than 30FPS if the developers choose to make a game like that but in this case they chose fidelity over FPS. My PC got murdered by Crysis as well and I had to drop setting like mad to get 30FPS, it's all about what the game is designed to do.

The FPS thing seems to differ from person to person. To me, the difference between 60 and 30 is blatant and it really annoys the hell out of me to play any game at 30. Some people can't even tell apparently, although that might have something to do with just never gaming AT 60 frames.

At any rate, in any action oriented game like this one, 30FPS is really pushing it for me.

Now, now - don't be mean to the Xboxer, he can't help being a bit biased from time to time.
