Tactical shooter Takedown: Red Sabre launch marred by rampant bugs

The promising Kickstarted tactical shooter Takedown: Red Sabre suffered a laundry list of bugs on its release this past Friday, 20th September.

Bugs, as noted at the official Steam forum page, includes loadouts not being registered by the game, server issues and disconnects, and AI bugs.

However, some of the complaints by gamers are intentional game features, such as limiting the amount of leaning, not being able to tell the difference between live and dead enemies, the lack of a radar, lack of a scoreboard and stats, and so on. According to the developers, "TAKEDOWN is a hardcore tactical shooter in the purest sense. What his means is that some of the traditional FPS elements we have all become accustomed to are not present in this game to reflect more of a real life scenario. As such weapons are designed to be more realistic with recoil and ammo differences. Also elements such as team kills, no radar, and game mechanics reflect what a user might experience in real life situations. This is part of the realistic and hardcore nature of the game."

Stay tuned for a review by Strategy Informer in the near future.

Too much to ask for a tactical squad shooter these days?

Still, have to say that after reading the comments regarding this game, it seems like Dai-Katana and Duke Nukem released flawlessly as all appraised titles in comparison ;)

Really bad, and sad, that the game got released like this. Still, an important message to crowdfounding - it doesn't ensure that everything will turn into gold!

Why would an indie release in this state? Ran out of money? Wouldn't it be much better to put it on early access and work on it for another month or two?

505 Games is publishing it, I believe.

I'm still very interested in this game. When the bugs are fixed I'll pick it up.
