Single player games drive sales, claims Rockstar's Houser

Rockstar's Dan Houser believes that large single player games attract a bigger audience than multiplayer games, as he discussed fixing the Grand Theft Auto Online issues.

According to Houser, "I think the well-executed multiplayer game clearly attracts a big audience, but it doesn't attract as big an audience as in a single-player game. It just doesn't do that yet."

He added, "Not everybody, not even with Call of Duty, not everyone is playing the multiplayer. There's a huge audience for people who love single-player adventures."

Of course, Call of Duty routine has sold blockbuster sales with a stronger focus on multiplayer, while MMOs attract worldwide audiences. Grand Theft Auto IV undersold - could it be possible that Grand Theft Auto Online is driving the sales of Grand Theft Auto V?

IMO, no. People are buying GTA because it's GTA. Online feature is a bonus to most people.
