Lead Designer Stone Librande from Maxis leads a gameplay walkthrough of SimCity's first expansion, Cities of Tomorrow. We get a glimpse at the futuristic techs we'll be using, like the fusion power plant.
The maglev rail is raised above the roads, meaning no traffic jams. Sewer water into drinking water? Thanks Academy! There's also OmegaCo - the polar opposite to a clean city.
Drones are produced when Omega franchised factories start popping up, which apparently minimise traffic and make deliveries directly to consumers at their homes.
Cities of Tomorrow will certainly mix up strategies people already have for tackling the troubles of a growing city. Sadly there are no bigger city sizes on the way, but at least there's hope for an eventual offline mode. Too much ground pollution? Use the ground scrubber to convert it into air pollution, so as long as the wind isn't blowing downtown...
Mega towers are the newest big feature of the expansion, which let us customise them level by level, explains Librande. One tower can accommodate apartments, offices, malls... basically it's a series of mini-SimTowers.
SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow releases on PC November 12th.
