3D realms announced this afternoon that Duke Nukem Forever, the highly anticipated title that has been equally awaited since the dawn of time, will be released (fingers crossed) in Q4 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

"we may miss the mark by a month or two, but I feel very confident that we're on target this time. said Scott Miller.

Miller also confirmed that the rumored Xbox Arcade version of Duke Nukem 3D will be released this year and will feature on-line multiplayer support, Xbox Live achievements, an on-line score board and a co-op mode.

"We're really excited about bringing classic Duke to the 360," said miller. "We're talking to Microsoft about getting a release slot sometime this year."

Lets hope they stick to this release date then.

UPDATE: 3D Realms have confirmed that this release date isn't correct, Duke Nukem Forever is still in for a when it's done date.

Incredibly, from the mists of lost dreams and vanquished hopes known as a place called VapourWare, arises the game that was, then wasn't a dozen times a year for ten years. It has chosen athe most competitive time of the year for its' release, when "Starcarft II", perhaps "Tiberium" and who knows what else will be released. Will this be what everyone has been hoping for, or will it be trimmed-down and sadly only up-to-par with present releases (as with "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.", a great game but failing to deliver on so many promises)?
I'm not holding my breath...I've had my fun with The Duke, and to be honest, it wasn't that much fun anyway. But I hope it does deliver... a lot of people have grown up, gotten married, grown a beard, gone bald etc. waiting for this game's release. just for the gamer's sake.

OH MY GOD!
A third dimensional DUKE! It's just not right! How can you have a classic arcade character like the Duke turn 3D? Oh the shame of it all!
Well Jamie I hope you're feeling suitably ashamed bringing this news to us all ...
Oh by the way herodotus I have NOT gone BALD yet ... however I'm not too sure about the growing up bit but the rest is true! :-)

I played Duke of course. But I am really not interested in it too much. I don't see what they can do with it now.
