Resident Evil 5 becomes top best-seller for Capcom, overtaking SNES Street Fighter II

It's taken a while but the 6.3 million copies that Street Fighter II for SNES has now been surpassed by 2009's Resident Evil 5 at 6.5 million. That makes it Capcom's new best-selling title in history.

Of course if you want to count Street Fighter II Turbo's 4.1 million on top of that given that it took away sales from the original... Capcom has over 60 games that have cleared 1 million sales.

Resident Evil 6 meanwhile has achieved 5.2 million since its 2012 debut despite being poorly received by critics and fans. SNES has finally been dethroned - the world is a little darker.

RE5, RE4 and olders are very good games (I just don't like RE Revelations that much), but I hope that Capcom will soon remove G4WL and make this game Steam only (like 2K and their Bioshock 2 etc.)

Pretty sure when RE 5 came out the world called it the death of the horror genre, though to be frank that was because the previous game in the series was one of the best games in the horror genre, now we have had RE 6 come out and by comparison RE 5 is at least trying to be horror so i do see where people are coming from when they say they like it now. I still think it`s a piece of shit though.
