Sega revealed in its earnings report that Creative Assembly's Total War: Rome II has sold over 800,000 copies from its launch on the 3rd September through to the 30th.

The publisher had recently released the Blood & Gore DLC pack for the game, which adds "hundreds" of gory finishing moves including decapitations, dismemberment, and impalements. The DLC costs $3 USD.

I know the game got mixed reception but I still thought these sell more, 800k seems kinda small for such a major game.

Very good for a PC title in less than 4 weeks.

Wondering how that goes against previous TW releases. I would hope it is less then previous titles. If they get rewarded by equal sales, they wont know they've screwed it up.

Well, I think the press and reviews let them know that, if they could not work it out for themselves, and I expect they'll get a lot more ppl adopting the Wait-and-See approach to the next TW title, regardless of how good it looks beforehand.

800k x $50 ea.. even if they only take in half that it's $20M banked in the first month, excluding DLC and excluding gouging Aussies on price. IDK what they spent making it, but $20M is a decent grab. I'd be interested in seeing some *2nd* month figures, after the reviews came through.

After R2TW major screwup I think most players won't pre-order anything from CA at least next 5-7 years. Game is so bad I stopped playing it after 3-4 weeks, now all I play is EU IV, altough I miss the battles greatly since EU IV combat system is really basic and crude.
