South African developer Christopher Bischoff has started a Kickstarter for his 2.5D isometric sci-fi adventure game, Stasis. He has also put the game on Steam Greenlight and has released a full alpha demo of it.

Stasis boasts an extremely detailed, atmospheric setting, using lighting to tell a story as much as the narrative, which puts the player in the role of John Maracheck, a fellow who finds himself awakening from stasis on a (seemingly) derelict mining ship, the Groomlake, which is in a decaying orbit around gas giant, Neptune.

Bischoff cites numerous influences, including Space Quest, Kings Quest, the Monkey Island series, The Dig and Day of the Tentacle for point-and-click adventures, Sanitarium for the general atmosphere, and probably Event Horizon, another horror set in a spaceship in a decaying orbit around Neptune.

Gamers can find Stasis on Kickstarter here, Steam Greenlight here, and the official site here. The link to the alpha demo is here.
