Brisbane-based 5 Lives has been making "leaps and bounds" in pre-production these past months, with work dedicated to development tools and pipelines ready for full production on Satellite Reign.

They've been toying with ideas to produce "an entire city worth" of individualised civilians using "a small amount of base assets," to save funds. Weapons systems are now being coded in.

Ammunition and upgrades are all going through the initial stages of implementation, alongside concept art for environments that will bring Satellite Reign alive.

"We have been making leaps and bounds over the last few months. With the studio all set up, we dived straight into making the game! The first step is pre-production. In pre-production, we develop tools and pipelines to make the game (you have all seen a little slice of this with Mitch's last update)."

"We have always believed in having a long pre-production cycle, which means we get plenty of time to figure out exactly how we are doing things, which is essential when you have such a small team like ours."

The team are also excited to announce the latest stretch goal is imminently due success which would see Russell Zimmerman brought onto the project to write the story for Satellite Reign, as well as introduce two new areas for the city; "the Industrial district and the “The Grid” district!"
