Melbourne-based indie developer NuclearFirecracker has announced that the studio has launched its space station sim Space Station Alpha.

According to the developer, the game is based on titles like Prison Architect, Dungeon Keeper and Dwarf Fortress. "Your main focus will be on keeping the multiple races of squishy aliens happy on your floating tin can while keeping them safe from the harsh environment outside," explains the company, "Along the way you will face hull breaches and the rapid decompression that accompanies it, unforgiving meteor showers, bloodthirsty pirates, complaining diplomats, espionage attacks, crying alien babies and starvation!"

Space Station Alpha is due to be released in April 2014 provided the game gets its $5,000 AUD goal. Players interested in checking it out can visit the Kickstarter page here.
