Assassin's Creed fans were disappointed to learn than the Alliance multiplayer game mode, which features a deathmatch pitting three teams of two against each other, was not included with Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.
According to lead multiplayer designer Tim Browne in the official Ubisoft , "The reason Alliance can't come back is that it uses 3 teams of 2 players. None of the game systems support 3 teams any longer."
Unfortunately, this spells doom for other gameplay modes that require more than two teams as well, though no technical reason was given.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was launched on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the past few weeks.
