What is Blueprint? Well essentially it’s the idea that "everybody is integrated" regardless of physical location of the devs, and it saves EA money, naturally.
It was designed as an experiment to see if the publisher could get high-end IPs out the door while breaking "the high-priced model of game development". It worked, sort of.
Boom Blox 2 is being put together at EALA but not all the team are at that physical sight to work on the game's development. "Everybody is integrated, regardless of whether they're in the same physical location," explained an ex-Blueprinter to . "It's truly the spirit of what Blueprint was going to be."
"Using distributed people and leveraging technology in a significant way would allow us to break the high-priced model of game development where everybody is on sight, hired as a full-time regular employee." While Blueprint maybe dead in official terms, its spirit lives on in corporate hearts today.
The division or project of Blueprint was starved of resources apparently and so couldn't fully develop and thus realise it's possible potential. With the departure of key staff that either left or moved onto other projects, Blueprint simple lost its momentum and closed.
