Epic Games has released a new video showing off the upcoming Unreal Engine 4, as Tim Elek and Zak Parrish show off the advanced visual effects the engine can render. The effects shown off include realistic water effects, lit translucency, GPU particle simulation and collision, among others.
According to Epic, "UE4 materials take advantage of node-based visual scripting, and the engine is designed so that desired changes can be propagated throughout the game world in real time. Layers can now be painted on at the pixel level, as opposed to the traditional method of applying changes to individual polygons."
