The Yule Lads, as played by developers of the popular space opera MMO, will be handing out gifts to loyal players over the holiday period. No word yet on what those prizes might be, but there's a deeply odd video of the Yule Lads in action.

Creeped out enough by that? Here's the word from the press release.

"The Yule Lads have been spreading cheer throughout the EVE Universe, gifting things to all EVE subscribers both naughty (most of them) and nice (a stalwart few). Seven Yule lads-from Stubby to Door-Slammer to Bowl-Licker-have given their gifts with more to come, including a unique gift that is sure to provide the space-faring players of the world’s largest gaming universe plenty of holiday joy. The unique “advent calendar” style of gift delivery will be open a bit past the holidays so those traveling can return to New Eden (or re-subscribe) to receive the myriad space goodies."

You can check out the Yule Lads webpage for more info on the celebrations, and we'll keep an eye out for further announcements.

Of course its disturbing. CCP is a group of very disturbed individuals who cater to *other* disturbed individuals. Normal people will be completely lost in EVE Online. Thankfully the game serves to draw a lot of the sociopaths and other types of weirdos away from legitimate MMOs.
