Sci-fi exploration adventure Lifeless Planet has finally landed on Steam Early Access after two years since it blasted off from Kickstarter. Creator David Board calls it "an ode to the old-school adventure games".

It's a low-gravity platform game with jet-pack propulsion for long distances. We solve puzzles and other noodle-scratchers to figure out what happened to an abandoned space colony.

We play an astronaut on a one-way trip to a life-bearing world outside our solar system, only to discover they're not the first human presence on the now barren planet.

"For me, 'LIFELESS PLANET' is an ode to the old-school adventure games and classic sci-fi stories I enjoyed as a kid. I hope I have delivered something different from what you usually get from the big studios and publishers today,” said Board. Lifeless Planet achieved its goal of $8,500 back in late October 2011, and actually more than doubled it.

Now after two years the third-person action adventure finally touches down on Steam Early Access.

• Explore 20 unique and atmospheric environments across a vast and treacherous planet
• Experience an exciting and intriguing story through rich graphics and cinematic cut-scenes
• Investigate the startling discovery of an abandoned Russian space colony
• Follow a mysterious young woman as she guides you past dangerous terrain and deadly life forms
