The first major content update in Take On Mars' new chapter has released with Expedition One marking the game's first manned mission to the Red Planet, following our time remotely controlling a probe.

A new 8x8 kilometre of Martian terrain opens up for these first marsonauts to explore with a science buggy providing them essential tools. Can Mars be colonised? Bohemia issues the challenge.

Our space craft will have limited supplies and so we'll have to search for fresh resources on Mars, as well as eventually erect habitats and large installations to live in.

"Due to the limited amount of supplies the space shuttle can carry, one of the most significant challenges for the marsonauts will simply be surviving the harsh Martian environment. As such, participants will have to actively manage their oxygen levels, food stocks, grow plants, and operate drilling rigs in the search for new resources. Unpressurized and pressurized manned vehicles will be at their disposal to increase their mobility across the vast alien terrain."

Take On Mars is available through Steam Early Access for 11.99. Bohemia advise first playing the original portion of the game in order to get some essential groundwork laid for your manned mission.
