Outcast Reboot HD falls short of Kickstarter goal, team looking at new options

The Kickstarter campaign for the planned Outcast Reboot HD has failed to reach its goal of $600,000, ultimately earning just over $250,000. Developers Fresh3D Inc aren't quite done yet though, promising that they are looking at other methods of gaining funding for a remastered version of the 1999 classic.

"We have received backing from over 5,100 of you for about $253.000, which is an amazing average pledge level. We are profoundly grateful and deeply touched by this amazing generosity," posted the development team on their Kickstarter campaign blog.

"Unfortunately, despite a rather good start, the pitch and the content we presented were not attractive enough to convince more backers (especially those who didn't play the original game) and did not manage to reach the overestimated funding goal of $600.000."

The team go into some detail on the lessons they've learned from the process, highlighting the need for a "lower initial goal" and to "better explain the key features of the game" among other issues they should have addressed.

Still, they're remaining determined to somehow continue with the project. "Thanks to your commitment and the overall feedback we received, we truly believe, more than ever, that this project deserves to be done and we are more than eager to make it happen. Will it be through another Kickstarter or another crowdfunding platform, paypal, private investment, some bank loans, public support, distributor deals or a mix of all that, we will see."

We'll keep an eye out for any more info from Fresh3D Inc.

I backed it, too bad it failed.
They simply didn't have enough things to show that could convince new players to back, us old folks didn't need much convincing.
