The post-apocalyptic survival series S.T.A.L.K.E.R is the latest to survive the GameSpy server shutdowns, with a new Steam patch moving the multiplayer servers for every incarnation of the series over to developers GSC Gameworld's own.

If you don't own the games on Steam you can manually download the patch, which affects all editions, on the series' official website.

It's not entirely clear who's doing this good deed, as according to their Wikipedia page GSC Gameworld was dissolved back in 2011, with members of the team going on to form studios Vostok Games and 4A Games.

Regardless, although your statistics per-server-swap won't be kept, it does mean that another game has avoided having its multiplayer effectively cut out by the death of GameSpy, whose servers finally shut off yesterday.
