Creative Assembly today announced that Empire: Total War has been delayed from February 3rd to March 2009.

Empire: Total War is set in the 18th century, a turbulent era that is the most requested by Total War’s loyal fan base and a period alive with global conflict, revolutionary fervour and technological advances. With themes such as the Industrial Revolution, America’s struggle for independence, the race to control Eastern trade routes and the globalisation of war on land and sea, Empire: Total War promises to be amongst the richest and most dynamic PC RTS games of all time.

This gives the game a delay of over a month, which is disappointing because we are really looking forward to the final release.

Why? Just why are you doing this to us!?!

I've been playing Medieval 2: Total War - Kingdoms and enjoying it immensely... so I am looking forward to this next installment.

BTW, this may be classified as a RTS but the campaign map runs TBS and gives the option for auto-resolve when the RTS conflicts arise.
So much of the game can be played TBS... then tougher conflicts played RTS with total camera freedom and command orders ability while combat is paused.
This makes a truly good RTS... NO CLICKFEST!!
Kudos to this series... it does things right.

That's too bad, but I think giving a TW game an extra month for testing and bug squashing is a good thing.

sterotypically they launch with a lot of bugs.

As long as it means that the cavalry charges will be cavalry charges, I'm ok with it...

It will be a fantastic game, and if you look at the official site, the system requirements won't be that high... surely, they mean it for the strategy map, I think. We can wait a little longer, if its that what it takes to see a really improved Total War sequel.

Hey that looks a good like taking a piece of AOE 3 dont ya
I mean they are going to do a much greater game than AOE 3 will be maybe one of the best RTS and I hope this delayed , bring better graphics, gameplay and storyline and I t shoul be just great

I don't mind waiting for an exceptional product (I didn't like M2TW that much, after playing them all). Extra time to upgrade is no bad thing, and this one will need it.

I knew it! Every game I am waiting for is delayed. They're testing my patience.

Rome: Total War is the one I like the best so far... although the Kingdoms addon for Medieval 2 is quite good.
By Knave (SI Core) on Dec 12, 2008
yeah, i'm a big fan of both of them. though i've never actually beat a long campaign before. I have very little patience when it comes to beating games.

I've finished all Total War series, and all of them are AMAZING!
I think they're up to something, a bug fixing, testing the game, or ....whatever! It's worth to wait Empire : Total War, thanks to its graphic and great gameplay. Their games are masterpieces!

Yeah, all Total Wars are awesome. Shogun and Rome had the best atmosphere, but you can't beat the European Dark Ages:) With the continuous change of setting, the really superficial and overused mechanism is hardly considered a flaw. On top of that, what innovation lacked Creative Assembly with Medieval 2, they made up to it with the excellent Kingdoms expansion.

Gamers out there! Important news! Based upon the latest from Creative Assembly, Empire: Total War will feature a multi player campaign - not only battles, but a whole campaign! Cheers!

Offline or through Online? I'd be pretty happy with an offline option.
Nonetheless great news Nicolas19.

This is really great news Nicolas19! I've found that official announcement:

"An opportunity to participate in the 1 versus 1 multiplayer campaign mode beta will be made available to all Empire Total War buyers post release."

This is the real breakthrough in TW games!

OMG! That's a great news! Means we can compare our skill with other TW gamers! Awesome.... they just seem restless for surprising us!

This is great news! I love the Total War serie and i do not mind to wait a little while more for this one. I think they keep improving the game with features and the 1 on 1 multiplayer campaign mode beta will be awesome!

I've waited so long to be able to participate in multi player campaigns. To be honest, I like that part more than the battle maps.
