Turok review

Turok, based on a comic book that has been around since the early 1950's, has been circulating in game form since 1997 (Nintendo 64 title). What does this latest installment in the 11 year Turok game evolution cycle have to offer? Emmanuel Brown shares his opinion.

Conclusion (5.2):
With all that said, Turok's various glitchy elements eventually come together to form an averagely enjoyable shooter. Parts of the game are memorable, and the alternative-fire modes on each weapon are innovative and occasionally fun to use. However, when you look at the best moments that you'll have with the game, most of them will come from exploiting the silly AI routines, or simply rampaging through the jungle on a Serious Sam level of destruction, mainly borne out of pure frustration with the stealth mechanics. If you can find it for a cheap price then it may well see you through a couple of sessions on a lonely weekend, but no further than that. A shame then, as this is a premise that certainly holds potential for somebody to make a classic game at some stage.

Another once innovative title, when first released bites the dust. Inherent problem with resurrecting old ideas with poor implementation. Games may sell, but don't always last on the pedigree of the Title and some fancy advertising.

In my opinion this game is very very poor one.

One one of the latter levels (look away if playing it), you spend an hour fighting off waves of Dono's only to find the Princess (the goal), is in another Tower. Clever AI is great, but making the game Hard for the wrong reasons isn't.

Ouch, really a poor score. Most of sites scored it decently higher though. We're second before last by score of it.

We need to congratulate you for Kosovo's independence? But you're in Albania :)

Just to clarify, on the 360 it would have been in the 6 region, but the PS3 versions technical problems really push it down lower than that.

We're just waiting for the street clashes to begin between the Serbians and the now legally recognized state of Kosovo. Not looking forward to that sort of thing. But any new birth comes with pain...just hope not as painful as "Turok".
