Capcom reveals new multiplayer modes for Resident Evil 5

Capcom announced today that a new multiplayer mode for Resident Evil 5 will be released post-launch as paid digital content via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The new mode, called Versus adds a deadly twist to Resident Evil 5's multiplayer, pitting players against each other in a contest of survival, a marked departure from the central co-operative nature of the game.

Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor’s Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles.

Versus will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network a few weeks after Resident Evil 5 is available. Versus will be available for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or €4.99/£3.99/$4.99 on the PlayStation Network.

So there will be more modes available trough the Live Marketplace, and PSN. Good move from Capcom. Those of you who awaited the game for such a long time will sure appreciate this. Will there be any for the PC version?

Yeah, and other developers who started the idea of a DLC. They are the ones who set the original price tag. :|

If hey made a few packs for free, it might make people believe more in them. Someone is gonna buy a console and the game from Sony or M, if one of them offered free DLC. Making 300$ per console is way more than making 7.99$ on the DLC. :|

yeah but its not just sony or microft, the game devolpers are part of this problem as well.but it would still be a good way for someone to get an edge or even more of one!

For example take the CoD4 map pack, which costs around 10$ on the PSN and Live, I'm not really sure about the price... The same thing we PC gamers got two months later for free. No isn't that so cool. Imagine paying for it, I would be among the first ones to say: "No, thank you!". :|
