So impressed are id with response to Quake Live, with beta signups "50 percent higher" than expected, that they're pondering others for Live treatment.

It's likely Wolfenstein Enemy Territory could be next says Todd Hollenshead. Quake Live is a free web-based version of id's 1999 release of Quake III Arena. US and UK among top players.

"I had my concerns. Are people going to show up?" admitted Hollenshead, speaking on the launch of the Quake Live beta.

"There was an enormous response on day one," he said. "We were impressed with it."

The UK, Germany, US and Poland are the top four countries to be Quaking it for free. "Probably, the next thing would be Wolfenstein Enemy Territory," he continued. "I think that box games are going to go the way of the buggy whip."

A bit of free Wolfenstein: ET anyone?

If they buff the graphics and kick the cheaters on ET, I'll certainly jump in. Been meaning to check this out, so thanks for the reminder.
