In what some could describe as a 'light' monumental screw-up, the pricing for Frozenbyte's Trine is finally starting to settle down with PS3 proving cheaper than PC.
The PC version was internationally price pointed at $40 by publisher Nobilis, with the PS3 version at half that. Publisher SouthPeak, handling the game in the US, has PC at $30. Steam will be publishing the title also for Frozenbyte at $30. "I'm sure the price will be something what will generate a lot of discussion. While guidelines are set by our publisher, in my opinion price around $/€ 30 is very reasonable for a game which production values are very close to a retail title," responded Frozenbyte devs on the official forum. "While we are labeled indie as developers, Trine is far from a game created by a solo hero developer (we have over 20 employees and Trine has contributions from a double amount of people). We are very confident that we can deliver a full retail experience with Trine (hence PC version is sold in retail also for approx 35 to 40 eur/usd!)." Yes it's a mess, but basically living in the US will land you Trine for PC at $30, with PS3 at $20. It's a physics-based action game where players assume the role of three characters and tackle some tricky and deadly puzzles and enemies. Source: Shacknews | |
