Activision is as pumped for Infinity Ward's release of Modern Warfare 2 as we fans, so much so that they are pushing back Singularity so it doesn't get hurt.
StarCraft II has been optimistically slated for a late '09 release, but with its beta already held up, and Acti left doubtless Modern Warfare 2 will over shadow everything, it too could see 2010. Analyst Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee has told the Wall Street Journal, that it "increasingly" appears that Blizzard's return of the iconic real-time strategy franchise will be pushed out of this year. Most pencil pushers agree that a delay to StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty wouldn't be all that bad. Releasing such a monolith title like StarCraft II during a much quieter period, like Q1 2010, would likely benefit all involved and really boost figures. Neither Blizzard nor Activision has offered any comment on analyst Bhatia's speculation so far. BlizzCon kicks off this August in Anaheim, California. Hopefully the veteran studio will be much more forthcoming with the details then... Source: GamesIndustry.biz | |
