Sony removes WipEout HD ads

Eurogamer reports that the in-game adverts causing a damaging increase in WipEout HD load-times have been removed by Sony.

"The ad has been removed from WipEout HD and we are investigating the situation to ensure that any in-game advertising does not affect gameplay," said a spokesperson

Gamers claimed that the ads caused the loading times to double, with YouTube videos being released as evidence to these claims.

Expect to see in-game adverts return once Sony has worked out why its causing harsh load-times.

That's a game-breaker. If they kept them as static billboard posters it wouldn't be a problem. But methinks they spend more time on the adverts than the game itself.

Sucks yea. Too bad this game isn't available for regular purchase, but DL only. I'm a fan after all, but we don't have a PSN Store here in Croatia. :|
