Next year the desktop will be getting TrackMania 2, with PCs that can already run the existing TrackMania Nations Forever, being able to play the sequel just fine.

Nadeo showcased their next instalment at the Paris Games Festival. Cam footage of the announcement and the first glimpse of the game has been posted on mighty YouTube.

TrackMania is all about the tracks and their general craziness. In the original it was up to the player to finish a number of the circuit designs to find the best route possible to the finish line. The footage hints just as much mania in the sequel, much to fan delight I'm sure.

The editor allows you to whip up geometry and textures from scratch apparently, and the game comes with four modes of play with split-screen supported. The cam clip below shows the Valley environment; one of three tilesets available. TrackMania 2 is due 2010.
