Assassin's Creed: Lineage short movie breaks record on YouTube

Ubisoft has announced that the first Assassin's Creed: Lineage short movie that made its debut on YouTube on October 27, 2009, was the most watched video on YouTube with over 1.7 million views worldwide in a period of 24 hours.

Ubisoft® today announced the first of the three episodes from the new Assassin’s Creed: Lineage short movies that made its debut on YouTube on October 27, 2009, was the most watched video on YouTube with over 1.7 million views worldwide in a period of 24 hours. On the day of its release, the first episode of Assassin’s Creed: Lineage was also the most commented video and it also received with excellent feedback from viewers.

All the three episodes in the Assassin’s Creed: Lineage short film series will be showcased online on November 13, 2009 after the first TV broadcast in several countries. The selected online partners and details will be provided later.

Developed by Ubisoft’s Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, and Ubisoft Digital Arts,  Assassin’s Creed: Lineage combines live action and computer generated imagery (CGI) to explore the events that happen just before the Assassin’s Creed II game starts. The short films revolve around Ezio’s father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, and give insight on the game’s back story and universe.

I must say it was a very good short video, well worth watching if you haven't already. I'm not surprised to see these numbers.

This will obviously be one of the big hits for the new year. I'll be interested to see what else Ubersoft brings to the table aside from flashy videos...BioShock 2 is on the way, after all.

Being a AC fan, I did quite enjoy the part 1 video, and very much looking forward to parts 2 and 3. It's no surprise the video got so much attention, with the success of their first title world-wide.
