Lawsuit attacks Microsoft Points system in Games for Windows Live

Games for Windows Live Marketplace uses the same Microsoft Points system as the Xbox Live Marketplace, which is not short on controversy.

The suit against Microsoft claims they receive revenue for services "not provided", as unspent MSP cannot be redeemed - just left.

Samuel Lassoff of Horsham, Philadelphia has launched the class action lawsuit, which comes at a bad time for Microsoft as Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg recently said they didn't intend to "mislead" anyone with the Microsoft Points system.

The Games on Demand service doesn't use MSP but adopts real life currency, which the corporate giant is apparently looking into spreading to the Live Marketplace. "Microsoft breached that contract by collecting revenues for digital goods and services which were not provided,” alleges Lassoff's suit against Microsoft, reports InformationWeek.

In order to buy from either Markerplace, users must buy Microsoft Points which don't always match the cost of items. This is Microsoft being “engaged in a scheme to unjustly enrich itself through their fraudulent handling”, swindling "hundreds" of others.

Do you find the Microsoft Points system to be unfair, videogamer?

Well, this will certainly be interesting. Frankly, I have no problem with the MS Points system, this strikes me as someone just looking for a way to get some money, and to gain attention, rather than a genuine concern with the fairness of the system.
