New 'Far Cry 2' gameplay from Ubisoft, the shooter is due this fall

The clip shows some quick action. Far Cry 2 boasts an open world environment, 50-km wide in a failed African state stricken with conflict. It all starts with an objective to remove an arms dealer peddling weapons to both sides.

The clip also confirms the game will see an autumn release date from Ubisoft.

Crytek was the creator and developer of island-shooter Far Cry but this sequel is not being handled by the studio, instead the project falls to Ubisoft Montreal. Crysis is no doubt taking much if not all of Crytek's time and resources as their latest prodigy has already achieved global renown.

It's hard to comment on gameplay at this stage, but this looks great in the African environs and refreshingly new. Not much "new" you can do with a FPS but I'm excited about this one.

I'm a big fan of the other FarCry's, so I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one. I just hope it comes to a console soon. I don't have the PC to play nex-gen games. ;(

Unfortuantely Praetorian mate, it is with shooters to a large extent. As I said, there's very little innovation in any other area in a FPS and its' the first thing gamers comment on when playing when one, then comes gameplay.

For me gameplay comes first. If the game isnt good or fun to play why do i need nice graphics than?

I think graphics are as important as gameplay. If either of them is bad, then we gamers look at the game as being a half-a**ed product. Well, I do anyway. But then again, I'm a grumpy old fart gamer, so I excpect the best, dagnabit!

I go for gameplay over graphics any day of the week, its' why I still play older games and ones from Introversion (Darwinia, Defcon etc). However, when a game is reviewed the FIRST item on the agenda brought up, after a general story synopsis is how it looks. If the graphics are bad it is the first item with a cross beside it. If they are good, then Gameplay is tackled and then if its' bad it gets a cross and the old Gameplay-over-graphics debate starts. So Revan006 you're right. they are equally imporatnt. Any review will bare testament to that.
