Epic's 'Gears of War' to be a movie by 2010, script is ready to go

The script is set and now all they need is to attach a director and they plan to see the project finished for summer in 2010. The game is packed with action, guts and guns - we should see something beautiful happen.

Handling the script is Stuart Beattie who describes the movie as being an "enormous film".

"We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach. We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010", says Wyck Godfrey, producer at Twilight.

For gamers and fans worried about the film you should know that Cliff Bleszinski the lead game designer for 'Gears at War’ has been working closely with Beattie on the script. New Line Cinema secured the rights to the movie adaptation back in '07.

"That's a huge world. It's a planet and it's a bubble and it's a building. It's an epic sci-fi war and an enormous film. To get it made at all, the only way to make it for a price is to be on a soundstage. But the game also has that look, which is really interesting, so I think it will dovetail really nicely", said Beattie.

The game follows a ragtag group of soldiers fighting desperately against the Locus Horde, a near limitless enemy that has clawed its way up from the bowels of our own planet to kill off humanity.

'Gears of War' deserves a good chance at the silver-screen - let’s hope they do a great job.

avatar The writer has been confirmed as Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Collateral) and a director is about to be signed. Beattie has also penned a Halo screenplay based on one of the novels. GoW is scheduled for release in 2010.
